The Eco-Village Valeni Agro-Boarding House represents a business set up in early 2014, in the southern region of Moldova, in the Valeni village. Its goal is to promote the tourist potential of the Valeni village and the ecosystem of the Beleu Lake.
The agro-boarding house is part of the Lower Prut Meadow Reserve, registered in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves of the United Nationals Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
To develop and consolidate the local tourism, the Eco-Village Valeni agro-boarding house benefited from a grant within the EU4Moldova: Focal Regions Preogramme, financed by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The area of the agro-boarding house was arranged following the financing of 30,000 euros.
The financing was meant for the endowment and equipping with furniture of eight new chambers from topic-related houses, wood tubs were set and kitchen equipment was bought. The arrangement of a spa area with swimming pools, Jacuzzi and sauna is under finalization.
Four people were employed following these investments and due to the development of the infrastructure, the agro-boarding house has become an attractive point for tourists of Moldova and from abroad.
„We understand that, only by joining the efforts, connecting the local producers, through each agro-boarding house, craftsman, each artist, telling his/her story, the tale is what the tourist appreciates, the tourist wants to discover. Practically, this year, through EU4 Moldova programme, we have made a dream come true, our long-time plan to bring a modern centre of swimming pool, SPA, treatment, in order to keep the tourist in Valeni for more time, in order to give him/her chance to enjoy as many as possible tourist services. As well as to really feel this spirit of the Prut meadow, of the southern Moldova,’’ the founder of Eco-Village Valeni, Nicu Stirbet, said.
„The tourist cluster VIA Cahul is a platform of cooperation between 50 members, among which there are economic agents in tourism sector, public institutions, state institutions, renovating institutions, research and catalytic institutions. The main goal of the cluster is to develop the Cahul region in the tourist field. And we want these economic agents to cooperate between them, promote each other and have an attitude of cooperation, not of competition, just as it has been till present. As a result so far, we have 16 economic agents which benefited from assets, equipment with which they endowed their tourist companies they have. Some of them have earlier provided services, while the others start new services in tourism. The cluster helped these tourists benefit from financial resources, in order to buy kitchen equipment, play equipment, what they need to develop what existed or to provide new services,’’ a project manager of the VIA Cahul, Tourist Cluster, Felicia Stoianov, said.
The EU4Moldova: Focal Regions Programme (2014-2024) backs the intelligent, inclusive and sustainable social and economic development in the Cahul and Ungheni regions, in order to provide the citizens with a better quality of life. The programme has an overall budget of 23 million euros, is financed by the European Union and is implemented by UNDP and UNICEF.
