Bulgarian High School Students Win 33 Medals at International Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics, Informatics

Sofia, 16 ian. /BTA/. Bulgarian high school students won a total of 33 medals at the 20th edition of the prestigious international Zhautykov Olympiad in mathematics, physics and informatics, which was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the Education and Science Ministry reported on Tuesday. The Bulgarian students won nine gold, six silver and 18 bronze medals.
Gold medals in informatics were won by Boris Mihov (Sofia High School of Mathematics), Yasen Penchev (High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences - Burgas), Daniel Koynov (High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences - Burgas), Veselin Markovic (High School of Mathematics - Varna), and Andrey Stefanov (First Private Mathematical Gymnasium – Sofia).
Geo Kalfov from First Private Mathematical Gymnasium in Sofia won Bulgaria’s only gold medal in physics.
Gold medals in mathematics were won by Bilyana Dimitrova (Sofia High School of Mathematics), Milen Shumanov (First Private Mathematical Gymnasium – Sofia), and Angel Hristov (High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences - Burgas).
The Zhautykov Olympiad is named after the Kazakh mathematician and academician Zhautykov Orymbek Akhmetbekovich.
