President's, PM's messages after Anastasia Nichita became Olympic vice-champion

Chisinau, Aug 9 /MOLDPRES/- Head of state Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean congratulated Anastasia Nichita, who won the silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games, becoming vice Olympic champion.
Maia Sandu said that Anastasia Nichita is writing a new chapter in the history of sports in our country.
"Anastasia Nichita brings Moldova's silver medal at the Olympic Games and writes a new chapter in the history of sports in our country. Anastasia is the first Moldovan woman to bring an Olympic silver medal in the history of Moldova. Thank you, Anastasia! You have had a long and difficult road, but your fighting spirit and hard work have made you a great winner. You are an example to us all, and especially to the children and young people of Moldova. Truly great things are achieved through hard work. Congratulations! The whole country applauds you and awaits you home. Congratulations also to the team of coaches and doctors who have been by your side," wrote head of state Maia Sandu.
Recean noted that the performance achieved by the wrestler from our country once again proves that "Moldova has exceptional athletes."
Wrestler Anastasia Nichita won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Paris this evening, the fourth medal won by Moldovan athletes at the Summer Olympics and the first silver medal. This is the first time in the history of women's wrestling in the Republic of Moldova that an athlete from our country has stood on the podium at the Summer Olympics.
