Moldova won six medals at European Boxing Championships

Chisinau, Aug. 13 /MOLDPRES/- The national boxing team won six medals at the European Cadet Championships, which took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With two gold, one silver and three bronze medals, the national boxing team ranked 6th in the final ranking by nation.
Two Moldovan boxers became continental champions. Egor Certicovtev from Tiraspol won the gold medal in the up to 42 kg weight category after defeating Englishman Hussein Azaan in the final, while Andrei Timoșcov from Chisinau won the gold medal in the 60 kg weight category after defeating Azerbaijani Nurlana Myceibli in the last act.
Another Moldovan representative, Alexandru-Ahile Buhaniuc from Orhei, became European vice-champion in the under-50kg weight class, while three Moldovan boxers completed the podium in their respective weight categories. Nichita Slepoi (40 kg, Tiraspol), Tudor Stratan (44 kg, Chisinau) and Alexandru Bujor (70 kg, Chisinau) won bronze medals.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, five other boxers from the Republic of Moldova reached the quarter-finals and placed fifth. They are Ivan Basciavanji (63 kg) from Comrat, Pavel Răducan (66 kg) from Chisinau and Vladislav Zigo (80 kg), Elizaveta Ignatova (57 kg) with Daria Grițco (64 kg), all three from Balti.
The European Boxing Championships took place in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina and 363 athletes from 30 countries participated.
