Moldovan peacekeepers from UNIFIL mission back home

Chisinau, Oct. 9 /MOLDPRES/- The second contingent of the UNIFIL National Army has returned to the Republic of Moldova, successfully concluding mission in Lebanon. The soldiers were welcomed at the Defense Ministry during an official ceremony and received distinctions and diplomas.
Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii congratulated the contingent on the successful completion of the mission and stressed that the Moldovan soldiers have shown professionalism.
"Our efforts for the transformation and modernization of the army, investment in training and the National Army servicemen contribute significantly to maintaining peace and security, not only at home, but also in the world. I would like to thank the partners for their support and appreciate the support of the Italian Army for providing the logistics," he said.
Contingent commander Nicolae Tinevschi said during the ceremony that the soldiers, including three women carried out security and guarding missions of strategic objectives and patrolling the area of responsibility.
The soldiers from the National Army's UNIFIL-2 contingent deployed to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon mission began their mission in February. They took over the duties of the Armenian peacekeepers who were part of the Italian contingent.
