Kindergartens from four districts of Moldova to be financed based on new formula

Chisinau, 9 October /MOLDPRES/ - A new formula of financing is to be piloted in 164 kindergartens from the districts of Anenii Noi, Cahul, Floresti and Nisporeni districts. The new methodology today was approved by the cabinet of ministers and was consulted with the local administrations from these districts, the government’s communication department has reported.   

Through the new formula, the government will ensure an increase of the budgets for the under-financed kindergartens. Presently, because of the differences of expenses of the kindergartens from the urban regions and the rural ones, there are inequalities in the system of their financing. In the areas with insufficient funds, the institutions have to increase the number of registrations in groups and reduce the number of services provided, affecting the quality of the pre-school education.  

The new way comprises three categories of expenses: paying the salaries to the staff, expenses dealing with the institutions’ infrastructure (costs for heating, public utilities, buying textbooks), as well as for the children’s nourishment.  

Also, the real needs of each kindergarten will be reflected through the methodology proposed; the presence of children with special educational needs or  of those who do not speak the Romanian language will be taken into account too.    

In 2023, the overall budget of the pre-school education institutions nationally was of more than 5.3 billion lei.
