Over 900 regional development projects implemented under European Village program

Chisinau, Oct 11 /MOLDPRES/- Over 900 regional development projects have been implemented under the European Village program, launched by President Maia Sandu, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spînu has announced. At the same time, the minister said that another 730 projects are under implementation.
According to Spînu, investments in the development of localities have been higher than ever before, as they are directed to providing villages and towns with water and sewage services, street lighting. "In recent years we have invested more than ever in our country's villages and towns. Only through the European Village Program launched by Maia Sandu, 917 projects have been implemented across the country," Spînu said.
Under the national program, public buildings, monuments have been renovated, kindergartens have been built and urban plans have been set up. Spînu published the list of completed projects:
➡ 154 water and sewage projects;
➡ 110 public lighting projects;
➡ 36 general urban plans;
➡ 176 renovated public buildings;
➡ 32 photovoltaic station/panel installation projects;
➡ 257 rehabilitated social buildings;
➡ 98 historical monuments;
➡ 13 co-financing external projects;
➡ 20 nurseries
➡ 21 good sanitary conditions in schools;
In addition to the 917 completed projects, another 730 are underway and will be implemented in the coming period.
Spînu assured that Moldova's integration into the European Union will increase investments in villages and towns and urged citizens to come out to vote on October 20. "We have allocated the most resources for the development of villages and towns in our country. We will continue to do so. Together with the European Union we will build better living conditions in every locality of Moldova", he said.
For 2024-2028, the European Village program envisages investments of over 5.3 billion lei in local development. The state budget, through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development will provide over 2.5 billion lei.
The draft program was set up by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development with the support of UNDP and the government of France.
