Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Democracy At Home Political Party, the Alliance for Romanians’ Union Political Party (AUR) and the WE Political Party have urged the citizens to participate in the constitutional referendum due on 20 October and to vote for Moldova’s accession to the European Union. Representatives of the three parties, registered at the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) as participants in the referendum, on 14 October were invited to the stage of electoral debates at the Moldova public TV station, in order to reason their option.
Vasile Costiuc, representative of the Democracy At Home Political Party: „Today, we come to the society and say ‘’yes’’ to the civilization, ‘’yes’’ to Europe, ‘’yes’’ to Romania, ‘’yes’’ to our way to the civilization. This is the message with which we have registered in this electoral campaign for referendum. During time, we will try to reason our position peremptorily and openly, just as we have done this each time.’’
Veronica Pascal, representative of the Alliance for Romanians’ Union Political Party: „ The Alliance for Romanians’ Union urges you to go to vote, by putting ‘’yes’’ in the ballot paper, as the referendum represents the most democratic way the people can decide its own interest and as long as we want to be in EU, we have right to vote through this referendum. AUR reminds you that the shortest way of integration into EU is the union with Romania. Romania has been in EU since 2007 and proved that there is freedom there, the human rights are observed there, the human dignity is respected there, there is the rule of law state there; therefore, we ask you to go to vote. Do not be passive, we expect you at the voting!’’
Ion Esanu, representative of the WE Political Party: „We are with the ‘’yes’’ option at the referendum, as we want Moldova to continue the message of Maia Sandu, who during four years has promoted EU and we have finally got to make a change in Moldova’s Constitution. Yes, we want to be part of the European family, the European economic family. A country which does not have economy cannot develop both spiritually and morally. Dear citizens, on 20 October, choose what do you want, but choose for the country’s good.’’
Lucia Vieru, moderator: A problem faced by Moldova in all the 30 years is the one of the Transnistrian region. To your mind, can the European integration be a solution to the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict?
Veronica Pascal, representative of the Alliance for Romanians’ Union Political Party: „EU insisted in about the 2009 year that we widen the discussions, the negotiations in another format, so that the Transnistria recognizes the legal part of Moldova. With the Russian army, which is on the territory, with the disagreements which Transnistria makes in relation with all legislation, the reforms from Moldova, there will obviously be big obstacles; therefore, the negotiations represent the settlement of the problem.’’
Lucia Vieru, moderator: On the way to the European Union, all sectors of Moldova go through certain transformations, including the agriculture field. In your opinion, which problems from the agriculture must be solved as priority and can EU, the EU member states solve these problems?
Vasile Costiuc, representative of the Democracy At Home Political Party: „When we talk about the European integration, each time, we remind about the Polish model. The Poles were the ones who quite toughly negotiated in their process of European integration, especially the agricultural aspect. Today, we talk about several extremely important aspects which our farmers do not have, in order to cope with and compete with the farmers from EU. We understand that our way is inevitably to the European community, but we want to protect our farmers and stimulate them to understand that this European way will not harm them and will not subjugate them.”
Lucia Vieru, moderator: A string of programmes for young people with EU’s assistance, programmes of probations, exchanges of experience are implemented in Moldova. In your opinion, can the European integration be a solution to stop the exodus of young people?
Ion Esanu, representative of the WE Political Party: „The European Union does not mean that somebody is putting something in pocket or on the table. As long as the Moldovan citizens do not perceive the idea that, if they do not work, do not increase the speed of work, its quality, this does not mean that, if we join the EU, then the pensions, salaries will be at the EU’s level; they will be at the level of the economic situation of Moldova at the present level.’’
Lucia Vieru, moderator: On its way to EU, Moldova is helped by more states. In your opinion, which member state of EU is the best model for Moldova?
Ion Esanu, representative of the WE Political Party: „The best model for Moldova would be Germany, as Moldova needs a system of social capitalism.’’
Veronica Pascal, representative of the Alliance for Romanians’ Union Political Party: „I personally, would choose the French legislation and culture. The native production is protected there, the education level is quite high; they bring up sound generations of children. Having quality products, sound lifestyle and clever children, we reach the level of France.’’
Vasile Costiuc, representative of the Democracy At Home Political Party: „Taking into account that the country comes from the Soviet bloc, Poland is a model worth being followed for me. I admire how they toughly negotiated each centimeter, each national interest, each millimeter of accession to the European community and their farmers represent a model for us of negotiations of the national interest. We should follow the way of Poland in the agricultural sector at least.’’
Presidential elections and a constitutional referendum on the accession to the European Union will take place in Moldova on 20 October.
Moldova’s citizens on 20 October will participate in a constitutional referendum, within which they will answer the question: ‘’Do you support the amendment of the Constitution for Moldova’s accession to the European Union?’’
The results of the plebiscite will represent ground, if most residents answer affirmatively to this question, for the amendment of Moldova’s Constitution, so that the European integration’s desideratum should be compulsory for all governances due to come.
