Moldovan PM visits Russo mansion from north Moldova commune

Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean today visited the Russo mansion from the Cotova commune, northern Drochia district. The house was restored through the European Village programme. The project emphasizes the cabinet’s commitment to revitalize the cultural heritage and to support the rural tourism in the region, the government’s communication department has reported.
The works included the change of the roof, ceiling, restoration of walls, change of doors and windows. Also, the leisure area adjacent to the mansion was arranged, a workshop of craftsmanship and a centre for development and promotion of rural tourism were created.
„The restoration of this object not only preserves an important element of heritage, but also contributes to the reconstruction of the local economy through the attraction of tourists, providing opportunities for the local community,’’ the PM said.
The Russo mansion from Cotova is the first restored object out of the four ones from the Drochia district, as well as from northern Moldova. The overall investment was of 4.8 million lei.
Twenty three projects worth over 60 million lei have been earlier financed in the Drochia district through the European Village and Express European Village programmes. Another 17 projects are to be implemented on the next period.
