Moldovan president calls several Moldovans from Diaspora, invites them to vote

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu urges the Moldovans from the Diaspora to actively participate in the presidential elections and in the constitutional referendum due on 20 October. Maia Sandu called some of the fellow countrymen who live abroad and expressed her appreciation for Diaspora’s contribution to the preservation of the democratic values in Moldova.
„I called several fellow countrymen who left for Germany, Spain, Ireland or the Netherlands. I invited them to vote and asked them to persuade their relatives and friends that the 20 October day is a decisive moment for all Moldovans. The vote from the country and from the Diaspora will decide together the fate of Moldova for decades ahead,’’ Maia Sandu wrote on her Facebook page.
The fellow countrymen were surprised by the phone call on behalf of the head of state and, on this occasion, they expressed gratitude and appreciation to Maia Sandu.
„Dear Moldovans who left abroad, on Sunday, go to vote to the polling station nearer to you, no matter whether you have preliminarily registered or not,’’ the Moldovan president urged.
The head of state reminded the list of acts based on which the Diaspora Moldovans can exercise their right to vote and published on its Facebook page all addresses of the polling stations from abroad.
The Moldovans from abroad on the election day can vote with the valid or expired Moldovan passport; valid identity card; provisional identity card.
„Our fate is decided on Sunday. Each one’s vote matters, no matter where we are. We everybody go to vote!’’ Maia Sandu said.
Presidential elections and a constitutional referendum on accession to the European Union will take place in Moldova on 20 October.
