Labour and social protection minister says Moldovans to be able to benefit from compensations for cold period in 2024 year too

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s citizens will be able to benefit from compensations for the cold period of the year in the 2024 year as well. The authorities presently work to give final touches to the technical details on the providing of compensations and will soon unveil them. At the same time, the citizens will be able to register in the system in early next November. Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu has made statements to this effect, noting that all details to this end would be soon presented.         

To benefit from assistance, the citizens will have to register in the system of compensation starting from November 2024. The first-line social sector employees will be with the people who do not have access to internet and will help them fill in the applications. ‘’All citizens will be able to register in the system in next November. In fact, they can register also in December and January, but only they will receive the compensation in the month when they registered,’’ the minister said.       

Alexei Buzu also said that the decision-makers would be able to announce the number of beneficiaries of the programme in early next December, depending on the number of people registered in the system. He did not specify whether the help would be provided as compensations in invoice or as monetary payment.    

The minister noted that, this year, the system of providing compensations would be much more efficient. ‘’We have access to more databases; we optimized, we simplified certain aspects; we work intensely now,’’ Alexei Buzu also said.  

The official provided details also about the budget for compensations. ‘’We clear up the budget. The cold period of the year coincides with two budgetary years; so, we will pay this year compensations for November, while the compensations for December and the rest of the months of the cold period will be paid in 2025. Now, we are at the point when we discuss the entire budget for the 2025 year. We do not discuss only the budget for compensations. We discuss the entire budget for 2025, but I am sure that we will succeed. We mobilized resources in two quite complicated winters for our country and this year, we will also be with the citizens from the families who need compensations.’’ Alexei Buzu added.     

According to statistics, during the 2023-2-024 cold season, over 792,000 households registered on the website www.compensatii.gov.md, in order to benefit from compensations in energy, in form of compensations in the invoice for gas, electricity and thermal energy, as well as in monetary form worth 800 lei in solid fuels.
