Moldovan electoral body says presidential elections' runoff to be held on 3 November

Chisinau, 23 October /MOLDPRES/ - The presidential elections’ runoff will be organized on 3 November. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved a decision to this effect today.
Under the legislation, if none candidate to the office of Moldova’s president picked up at least a half of the votes of the electors who participated in the ballot, the runoff election is organized, with the participation of the first two candidates who got the largest number of votes in the first round of the elections.
It is about the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party, Maia Sandu, who picked up 42.49 per cent – 656,852 votes and the candidate of the Party of Socialists from Moldova, Alexandr Stoianoglo, for whom 25.95 percent of the electors voted – 401,215 votes.
Also, CEC approved the text and the model of the ballot paper for the runoff election. On the ballot paper, Maia Sandu is on the first position and she is followed by her counter-candidate, Alexandr Stoianoglo.
Also, the Commission today informed that the printing of the ballot papers for the runoff election, due to be used at the polling stations from abroad, would start at the Central Printing House today.
