Searches takes place in Moldova on deeds of illegal financing of parties, corrupting voters; Eleven territorial leaders of Shor crime ring detained

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/ - Law-enforcers have made raids in Chisinau, Orhei, Floresti, Sangerei, Dubasari, Criuleni, Soldanesti, Ocnita, Edinet, Nisporeni, Cimislia, based on more criminal files opened on the illegal financing of parties and corrupting of voters. Following the actions carried out, 11 territorial leaders of the Shor crime ring were detained; more assets were sequestrated, according to a press release by the Police.
Following the searches, the law-enforcers sequestrated transport means and luxury assets, raised mobile phones, tablets and sticks which contain important information for establishing all circumstances in the criminal files, financial means, electoral materials, lists of the people regarded by the inquiry, rough copies, folders, banners, party identity cards, bonds which confirm certain money transfers and other assets.
At the same time, the Police say that some of the people concerned in investigations cooperate with the law-enforcement bodies and recommend that the citizens do not sell their votes. ‘’We recommend, in continuation, that the citizens do not accept money in exchange for votes; this is a contravention which is sanctioned with fine worth up to 37,500 lei,’’ the Police’s communique reads.
According to the Police, during 29-30 October, over 30 searches were made based on more criminal files opened by central and territorial subdivisions of the law-enforcement institutions, with the participation of representatives of the General Police Inspectorate, National Anticorruption Centre and coordination by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
