EUROPEAN VILLAGE: Porumbeni residents benefit from improved sanitation conditions

Chisinau, Nov 1 /MOLDPRES/- Over 1,400 people from 350 households in the village of Porumbeni, Pascani commune, Criuleni district, benefit from improved sanitation conditions after 12.4 km of sewage networks were built in the locality. The works were carried out under the European Village program and cost 8.3 million lei.
The beneficiaries of the project include three community institutions: a kindergarten with 170 children, an art hall attended by more than 50 children, a post office, a family doctor's office, a community service and 11 local economic agents, including a famous candy factory.
The total value of the project implemented in Porumbeni amounts to approximately 8.3 million lei, of which 8.2 million lei was allocated by the Government through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development and 90 thousand lei is the contribution of the local public authority.
According to mayor Vasile Gîrbea, this project has significantly improved the sanitary conditions in Porumbeni and contributed to environmental protection.
Under the European Village Express program, the localities of Porumbeni and Pașcani benefited from a project aimed at modernizing street lighting. Thus, with money allocated from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, the old electric line was modernized and 218 new LED lighting fixtures were installed.
"This project will reduce by 50% the expenses incurred by the local public administration for the consumption of public lighting in the whole commune", Gîrbea said.
The value of the project exceeds 250 thousand lei, and its direct beneficiaries are about 2,700 inhabitants of Pascani.
According to the National Office for Regional and Local Development, 33 local development projects have been implemented in Criuleni district through the European Village, first edition, and European Village Express programs. The Government has invested a total of over 80 million lei in these initiatives, bringing significant benefits to over 50,000 people.
