Investments of 3.2 million euros at Ion Creangă Pedagogical University

Chisinau, Nov 1 /MOLDPRES/- Several educational halls at the State Pedagogical University "Ion Creanga" of Chisinau have been renovated and equipped with digital equipment. This was thanks to two grants worth over 3,320,000 euros under Moldova Higher Education project implemented by the Ministry of Education and Research and financed by the World Bank.

From the allocated resources, the university modernized 15 multifunctional spaces within the Faculty of Education Sciences and the Faculty of Philology and History. In total, ten classrooms, four centers and a hub have been renovated and equipped to the benefit of both students and academics.

In addition to improving the infrastructure, the University has also modernized the curricula in line with the requirements of the labor market. Thus, 45 study programs were evaluated and upgraded, three bachelor and five master programs were launched. Ten distance learning programs were also opened.

"What we want is to improve the quality of education, develop a dynamic educational system, make the teaching profession more attractive and increase the employment of graduates," noted Alexandra Barbăneagră, rector of the State Pedagogical University "Ion Creangă".

The representative of the World Bank Moldova Office, Ion Gonța, said that the project aims to increase the attractiveness and relevance of university studies in the Republic of Moldova. "We want as many students and teachers as possible to benefit from these spaces," he said.

The project is implemented in 2020-2025. In total, seven higher education institutions and six pedagogical colleges in the country are benefiting from the modernization of the institutions' infrastructure and study programs in line with the requirements of the labor market with the support of the World Bank-funded project.
