Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/ - Over 700 entrepreneurs from Moldova have provided clients with a great variety of payment means, after they had adopted the MIA Instant Payments System, accepting such payments through QR codes and based on a link. As a result, during only three months after the initiative’s launch, 24,000 QR codes were generated, through which about 6.4 million lei was transferred to traders.

The MIA system for business provides alternative ways of electronic acceptance of payments, no matter the financial institution where the trader has his/her account. Due to the new MIA functionalities, dedicated to the business environment, entrepreneurs can accept payments through QR code at the sale points, can integrate the MIA payment pin in the online shops which they manage and can provide payments through link, when products are delivered at distance.

The main benefit for the business is that the sum transferred fully reaches the company’s account in just ten seconds. An important advantage is the single commission of up to 0.8 per cent, applied at the acceptance of payments for most businesses; for social services (public transport, hospitals, education, payment of public utilities), the commission cannot be higher than 0.5 per cent.

The MIA Instant Payments was launched in March 2024. It is a payments system developed by the National Bank of Moldova and provided through mobile financial applications of the providers of payment services from Moldova. Earlier this week, the Moldovan authorities informed that the MIA national payments system had reached 300,000 users.

Starting from 31 July 2024, the system became accessible for the business environment as well.
