Moldova finalized bilateral screening on chapters of Cluster 1 Fundamental values

Chisinau, Nov 15 /MOLDPRES/- Bilateral screening on Chapter 18 Statistics took place in Luxembourg on November 13-14. This session concluded the bilateral screening for Cluster 1 Fundamental Values.
The Moldovan delegation made up of officials from several public institutions, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov presented to the European Commission experts the situation in the country in the statistics and future plans to develop a reliable national statistics system.
Gherasimov congratulated the colleagues of the National Statistics Bureau for their work over the past months and worthy presentation at the screening stage.
The official also held meetings with officials from Luxembourg and European institutions.
"I was pleased to talk to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel. I also spoke with President of the Court of Justice of the European Union Koen Lenaerts and Mariana Kotzeva, Director General of EUROSTAT. We continue to welcome the full openness of our partners to help us with the necessary expertise to advance on our European path, for which I thanked all three interlocutors," said Gherasimov.
On June 25, 2024, the Republic of Moldova started accession negotiations with the European Union. They were officially launched at an intergovernmental conference in Luxembourg. The authorities are currently coordinating the bilateral screening phase.
