More than half million citizens applied for compensation of energy costs

Chisinau, Nov. 18 /MOLDPRES/- More than half a million citizens have submitted applications for compensation of energy costs for the 2024-2025 cold season since the launch of the program. Of the total number of applications, about 255 thousand have been completed with the help of registrars.

Assistance was also provided through the program's Green Line to 33,660 people. For questions related to the registration process, citizens can contact the Green Line free of charge at the number 0 8000 5000 (Monday-Friday between 08:00 and 18:00 and Saturday between 10:00 and 16:00).

In order to benefit from the compensation for November, interested people must register on www.compensatii.gov.md by 28 November.

During the cold season, applications can be submitted at any time, but compensation will not be granted retroactively for previous months. If the application is submitted after the 28th of the month, the compensation will be granted from the following month.

When awarding compensation for the 2024-2025 cold season, vulnerability categories are no longer used. The compensation amount is calculated individually by the Energy Vulnerability information system.

The government is offering energy compensation to vulnerable households through the Help at meter program for the third consecutive year. Consumers are eligible for compensation if they heat their household using natural gas, heat, electricity or solid fuel (wood, coal, pellets, briquettes). Compensations are offered for the cold period of the year, which includes the months of November to March.
