National Anticorruption centre detains man from north Moldova in file on influence peddling

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - A man from north Moldova has been detained for influence peddling. He would have promised that he can influence the getting of a driver’s licence against a sum of 1,600 lei.
According to the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), the man said that he would have influence on civil servants of the section of registration of vehicles and documentation of drivers from Edinet and that he would be able to prompt them to favour a candidate at the practical and theoretical exams and to issue him the driver’s licence of the B category against a sum of 1,600 euros.
Based on the denounced information, CNA started a criminal prosecution for influence peddling and subsequently it detained the person suspected of the claiming and reception of the sum of money. Searches were made at the home and the car of the suspect for the consolidation of the evidence, with more relevant information for the criminal file collected from the spot.
All actions took place under the procedural leadership of the Balti municipality’s Prosecutor’s Office. At the same time, the court ruled to place the accused person under home arrest for 30 days.
