As many as 1.5 million small trees planted in Moldova on 16-17 November

Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/ - About 1.5 million small trees were planted during the works of planting in Moldova on 16-17 November. As many as 7,679 people participated in the planting, of whom 5,442 are representatives of the society from different organizations and institutions, as well as volunteers.
According to the Moldsilva Forestry Agency, an area of 325 hectares was planted on these two days of eco-forestry solidarity, promoted by Moldova’s government. The works were carried out in most sectors of those over 400 locations available for planting this autumn, on grounds of the Local Public Authorities or in the forest fund managed by Moldsilva.
Small oak trees, ash trees, acacia trees, sycamore maples, poplar trees were mostly planted in an assortment of 20 species, out of an overall number of 26 million small trees, grown and prepared for planting by employees of the territorial forestry entities of the Moldsilva Agency.
The National Programme on Extension and Rehabilitation of Forests (PNERP) is carried out in Moldova on the period 2023-2032. This is an initiative by President Maia Sandu, which will bring not less than 145,000 hectares of planted an rehabilitated forests.
