Chisinau, Nov 20 /MOLDPRES/- Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii today gave details about the drones found in Moldova. The official said that they could not be detected by the radars that the National Army has in its equipment, and the authorities are currently identifying possibilities to purchase new systems that will allow timely identification and notification of citizens about possible dangers.
"The drone found yesterday near Chisinau is similar to the others that have been spotted over the past weeks, it can be seen that it is part of the same raid that took place massively on November 10. All the drones, at first glance, look similar, but I ask citizens not to approach them, not to disturb them as they can be dangerous. As long as we have a border war, there is a danger that they will deviate from their initial trajectory or specifically target the territory of the Republic of Moldova. There may be dangerous ones among them, that is why I reiterate the importance of notifying state bodies to take necessary measures and protect citizens," he said.
He said that the new radar purchased by Moldova last year can detect such aircraft, but it depends on their location. According to the minister, the radar has its range and tactical-technical data for certain targets.
In addition, the minister noted that the National Army has more than 20 different radar systems in its equipment, only that they have a different purpose - to detect conventional targets. The official said that in order to provide surveillance of the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova, our country would need a radar system - three radars of a certain type and two or three more advanced radars to identify strategic and ballistic targets.
In this regard, the official stressed that the authorities are currently identifying possibilities to purchase the new systems that will allow for timely identification and warning of citizens about possible dangers.
Two Russian drones were spotted on November 10, on the territory of the Republic of Moldova - one in Causeni district and the other in Riscani.
Late last week, a missile was spotted on the Ukrainian side of the Larga sector of Briceni, and a resident of the village of Groznitsa, Briceni, reported seeing two drone-like flying machines at a height of about up to 100 meters.
Yesterday, police announced that another drone was spotted in the perimeter of Port Mall and Arena Chisinau in Chisinau municipality.
