140 Moldovan entrepreneurs benefited from green business grants

Chisinau, Nov. 22 /MOLDPRES/- Over the past two years, 140 Moldovan entrepreneurs have received grants through SMEs Greening Program, managed by the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA). The total value of the grants has exceeded 32 million lei and the projects have generated investments of over 64 million lei in the national economy.

The beneficiary companies are from sectors such as service provision - 61 entrepreneurs, industry - 45 and agribusiness - 34 enterprises.

Thus, 70 companies have invested in wastewater treatment plants and rainwater collection and reuse facilities, while 36 SMEs have implemented waste reduction systems and improved recycling processes. In addition, 20 enterprises have adopted green technologies for production and services and 14 entrepreneurs have integrated technologies to reduce polluting emissions.

The program, funded by the Moldovan Government and the European Union, is an integral part of the national strategy of transition to a green economy. Through sustainable investments, SME Greening contributes to the sustainable development of SMEs and to achieving the country's environmental goals.

The program supports small and medium enterprises in their transition towards sustainable practices. Through grants, consultancy and access to green technology resources, ODA facilitates the implementation of green solutions aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting resource efficiency.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization, more than 30 companies have started reporting according to ESG standards, helping protect the environment and improve social conditions.
