PHOTO Two localities in country benefit from innovative Polish green technology for cleaning aqueducts

Chisinau, Nov. 26 /MOLDPRES/- Several aqueducts in Tohatin commune, Chisinau municipality, and in the city of Cimislia have been treated with eco-friendly technology called SeaQuest, and as a result, residents are drinking better quality water. This was made possible thanks to an innovative project by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Poland.

What happens to the pipes through which water comes to the tap and how they can be cleaned is a big challenge, and SeaQuest technology is a very good solution in this regard, say operators who provide public drinking water services.

While SeaQuest technology has been used globally for more than two decades to maintain and clean water distribution networks, this is a first for Moldova. As part of the pilot project supported by UNDP and the Government of Poland, the Polish company PROTE, which is the official distributor of SeaQuest technology in Poland, where it has been successfully used for a long time, shared its experience and innovative technologies with the Moldovan partners.

Cimislia Mayor Sergiu Andronachi said that the project has already been running for three months in the locality, on one of the three water supply systems in the city. "After the installation of this Polish system, the water quality has improved, in compliance with all biological and chemical standards," he said.

SeaQuest technology shows that it is possible to remove sediment from the entire water supply network without disrupting water distribution and can be an affordable and sustainable solution to an often too costly global problem.
