Chisinau, Nov 27 /MOLDPRES/- MP Radu Marian, chairman of the parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance announced that next week public parliamentary hearings will be organized on the situation in the energy sector. The decision comes after Moldovagaz submitted a request to increase the natural gas tariff.
Sector institutions and enterprises will be invited to the hearings.
The MP noted that during the hearings, the participants aim "to clarify the reasons that led to this unexpected request for increase and to identify solutions to reduce the risk of sudden tariff adjustments in the future".
The National Agency for Energy Regulation announced yesterday that Moldovagaz has submitted a request for an adjustment of natural gas prices. Moldovagaz argued that the request comes in the context of a "significant increase in prices on international market".
Members of ANRE's Board of Directors were to meet today to examine and approve the gas prices. However, today morning, ANRE announced that the meeting was postponed to Friday, November 29, at 10.00. The decision was justified by the need to examine and analyze a large volume of information related to the draft adjustment of regulated prices for the supply of natural gas.
Marian said that the exact date of the parliamentary hearings will be announced after ANRE's decision.
