Moldova to have three new ambassadors

Chisinau, Nov 27 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will have new ambassadors to Poland, Hungary and Bulgaria. Violeta Agrici will be appointed as Moldova's ambassador to Poland. Emil Jacotă will be appointed ambassador to Bulgaria and Mihail Barbulat to Hungary. The parliamentary committee on foreign policy and European integration today approved the advisory opinions on the agreed candidates of the three new ambassadors.

"We selected professional candidates, all of them diplomats. After the legal procedures are completed, I am confident that the new ambassadors will promote Moldova's interests on the international stage with dedication and efficiency. Good luck", Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi said.

Violeta Agrici holds a bachelor's degree in public international law and a master's degree in the same field. She has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2007 and is currently Head of the International Law Directorate. From 2017 to 2022 she was Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Kingdom of Spain and Permanent Representative to the World Tourism Organization.

Emil Jacotă has over 30 years of experience in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is currently working as head of the Bilateral Cooperation Department of the MAE. Previously, Jacotă has worked in Moldovan embassies in Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and the Russian Federation.

Mihail Barbulat is currently the Head of the State Diplomatic Protocol within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Previously, from 2013 to 2014 he was a Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and in 2009 he was Minister of Culture and Tourism. 

Under the diplomatic service law, proposals for ambassador appointment are submitted to the government by the minister of foreign affairs, in consultation with the foreign policy and European integration committee. They are subsequently appointed by president.
