Moldovan government approves list of Laureates of National Prize 2024

Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved the list of personalities nominated winners of the National Prize, 2024 edition, the government’s communication department has reported.
The laureates of this year are:
Maria Mocanu, singer, folklorist, journalist, People’s Artist – for outstanding contribution to the promotion of the national values;
Sergiu Galben, fine artist – for prodigious activity in the fine arts field and the creation of valuable works;
Nicolae Dohotaru, director general and chief conductor of the Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre, People’s Artist, Knight of the Labour Glory Order, Master in Art, professor – for outstanding achievements in the development of the national culture, promotion of artistic values and cultural management;
Ion Ciutac, PhD in medical sciences, university lecturer, coordinator in emergency surgery at the Holy Trinity Municipal Clinical Hospital – for exceptional achievements in surgery;
Denis Nica, PhD in physical sciences, university lecturer, researcher – for significant contribution to the development of the fundamental theory of the thermal transport in nano-structures;
Nicolae Negru, writer, author of theatre plays, political pundit, editorialist of the National Newspaper – for the national message and for the deepness of his literary, dramaturgic and journalistic work, as well as for the self-biographic work titled, O progenitură dușmană (A Hostile Offspring);
Serghei Tarnovschi, Merited Master of Sports, who participated and got medal at the Olympic Games, world champion and medal winner at European games/championships , triple university world champion, professional sportsman.
Sergiu Cumatrenco, a producer and distributor of films, was awarded the prize for special merits and artistic contribution to the promotion of the cinematographic art in Moldova.
The laureates were nominated by secret vote, at a meeting of the Commission for Awarding the National Prize from 24 November. The winners will receive medal, government’s diploma, as well as a money prize worth 100,000 lei. The details on the date and place of the holding of the ceremony on awarding the prize will be announced by the Culture Ministry.
